What is Optimum Nutrition?
Your health is not simply a matter of avoiding disease, it's about feeling great, physically and mentally, and being at your best for all that life has to offer. Your body is highly complex, and given the correct raw materials has a huge capacity to take care of itself. So optimum nutrition is about finding the foods and nutrients that will help you achieve better health and vitality, and avoiding those that may not suit you. We need a whole range of nutrients to ensure everything functions correctly, and our individuality means each of us have slightly different requirements, and different foods we may be better to avoid or include.
How can optimum nutrition help me?

Once you've made the connection between optimum nutrition and good health, we can show you the way forward. Our commitment to you involves helping you improve your well-being by determining how your current diet & lifestyle are contributing to your health, or telling you what other approaches may help. In return, your commitment to improving your health requires you being prepared to make changes to your diet, undergo any necessary biochemical tests, and take the recommended supplement programme.

What qualifications do optima nutritionists have?
All optimum nutritionists are qualified in clinical nutrition by the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London and are registered with the British Association of Nutritional Therapists and the British Complementary Medical Association. Qualification takes 3 years and is the gold standard in clinical nutrition, involving the most up-to-date training in preventative and holistic healthcare.
What will I actually get out of a consultation?
During your consultation we will explore your own personal needs and health goals. You will be advised on which foods are likely to be beneficial, those that may be better avoided, lifestyle factors to consider and which food supplements could help you get back on track, because restoring or improving your health takes more nutrients than maintaining it. All these recommendations will be tailor-made for you personally, are designed to fit into your lifestyle and are given in digestible stages so you can make changes at your own pace. Phone support is available throughout your programme - if you have any questions or concerns, you can call your nutritionist.
How does nutrition fit in with other treatments?

Nutritional therapy complements other conventional and alternative treatments very well. Whether you're working under the guidance of a medical doctor, counsellor, or alternative practitioner such as a hypnotherapist, acupuncturist, NLP practitioner, etc… good nutritional advice can help you gain most benefit from your other treatments. Many other kinds of practitioners refer their clients to a nutritionist and for good reason - it's the foundation of good health.
